about

This is a mixtape to raise money for Planting Justice, an organization that hires prisoners and people on parole who can help urban dwellers build their own organic garden. Though this is called the Anti-Gmo mix, and though we are Anti-Monsanto, our real nature is to show resilience to Corporations and to be self-sufficient. We also think these songs are ace, so please spread the word and the tunes.

Track Name: The Blank Tapes - Naturally
I don’t want no GMO’s in all my food
I don’t need no Monsanto messing with my booze
I don’t want no chemicals in my tortilla chips
I don’t need what aint natural getting near my lips

I can’t find none that doesn’t got some
strange ingredients
with some roundup that’s gonna end up
as some experiment

I don’t want no GMO’s in all my snacks
I don’t need no Monsanto mixing up the facts
I don’t want no chemicals in the beer i chug
I don’t need what aint natural even in my drugs

There aint too many that don’t got any
scientific names
but should I eat it if I can’t read it
but it’s in everything

I don’t want no GMO’s in all my soy
I don’t need no Monsanto in every girl and boy
I don’t want no chemicals in everything I eat
I don’t need what aint natural inside of me
No I don’t want what aint natural naturally
Track Name: Khafre Jay - Plant Some Justice
A hand reaches out asking for a bite to eat, you ever been feeling the pain while you're trying to sleep, the land is trying to grow but there's something wrong, man is harvesting more but enough has gone to waste, fraud, and abuse, the truth of the IMF, you get a little bit of money just for trying death, petro, agro, capitalistic, that seed will only grow if you got money to spritz it with round-up ready, or ain't no seed sowing, years later now we wonder where the bees going, G-M-O, we got a mono crop food system, man we dying just to get some nutrition, look, corporations aim to make us think we need a store, when mama nature gives us all we'd ever what and more, a billion people tonight who should be eating more, dog they just trying to feed the war not the poor

(Chorus)
We gotta plant some justice, grow some seeds, dig in the earth for our groceries, we gotta promote the culture for those in need, cause the world's got folks to feed (x2)

Walking through the hood seeing all the vacant lots, up in my head thinking we should scheme to make a plot, grow a crop for the block, we'll be full soon, now the little kiddies doing good in the school room, a hand reaches out asking you to show him how he can touch the earth so that he can feed his people now, take his hands out the cuffs, put'em in the ground, steal him back from the Man, get him back to his land, man we fighting it just for the space, right!? to plan a seed so tat we can get a safe bite, food organically grown so it tastes right, now food deserts growing faster than a race stripe, the lake levels getting lower than my waist hieght, world hunger's growing higher than a space flight, a revolution now, growing in their face might be the thing to set the place right for the light

(Chorus)
We gotta plant some justice, grow some seeds, dig in the earth for our groceries, we gotta promote the culture for those in need, cause the world's got folks to feed
We gotta plant some justice, grow some seeds, legalize hemp, decriminalize weed, we gotta promote the culture for those in need, cause the world's got folks to feed
Track Name: Fresh Juice Party - Monsanto Monstruo
We're here to ask you where you get your nerve
Feeding us monstrosities disguised as food
Prosecution is what you deserve
To pay back all the farmers you sued
You spray Roundup to kill the weeds
But the Roundup kills the crops too
Back at the lab you change the crops
To something that might kill you
We don't want no Monsanto
We don't want no GMO
Don't want no fish tomato
We don't want you in control
Agent orange, aspartame and astroturf
Anniston Creek, a landfill where you hid your dirt
DDT, PCBs and seeds that terminate
You monopolize and patent our fate
You spray Roundup to kill the cocaine
But the Roundup kills all kinds of plants
And the people of Colombia are poisoned
By our government
We don't want no Monsanto
We don't want no GMO
Don't want no fish tomato
We don't want you in control
Beyond all possible bounds of decency
You feed the world disease and lies
Then sprinkle it all with Nutrasweet
But it don't hide the taste of mass suicide
You spray Roundup to kill the weeds
But the Roundup kills the crops too
Back at the lab you change the crops
To something that might kill you
We don't want no Monsanto
We don't want no GMO
Don't want no fish tomato
We don't want you in control
Track Name: Madeline Tasquin with Tom Rhodes - Full Belly
Well the streets are about to burst
Take me away from here
The sky is filled with mechanical birds
We've lost all control, I fear.
No inflection in this text,
every day into the next,
a story with no plot...
What's the point? I forgot.
Take me away from here.

The people around here don't care
(What's all this mess about?)
They don't smile, they don't even stare.
(Our time is running out.)
Pretty sure I ain't afraid
but I'm surrounded by it every day
It's become the norm, a perpetual storm
Take me away from here.

Cuz all I need is
good food in my belly
and dirt on my feet from a path that leads to a stream
There is no such thing as asking for too much,
and simple is all I need.

The birds on my block have gone
tweet tweet tweet tweedle-dee-dee
My cellular telephone is always on -
it goes Ring ring ring ring-a-ling
Always something new to do
some great thing I cannot miss
but my mind's bent out of shape
and my body's a mess
Take me away from here

Cuz all I need is good food in my belly
and dirt on my feet from a path that leads to a stream
There ain't no such thing as asking for too much
and Simple is all I need
Give me a lover who is happy
and a good book to read
the shade of an oak tree
There ain't no such thing as asking for too much
and Simple is all I need
Simple is all I need!
Track Name: Michael Musika & Eric Kuhn - We Are All Animals
I had a dream that I ran out of money
in a land where it's illegal to be without money
the Chinese mafia wanted so badly to kill me
and the American Police didn't care to help
i know it's hard to believe i'd need a knife up my sleeve
even though we believe that I'm only sleeping
yet i'm terribly sure i won't wake evermore
if someone doesn't transcend the top floor of this troublesome nightmare
While the devils on each level raise their voices from rolls royces chanting choices
of mandates, tax breaks and topical temptations
Namely shapely lady wants a baby ain't she crazy give her gravy on and on

in the churches and the circus where the workers purchase worthless
paperwork to justify the property they purchased
I stood up at the pulpit like a shirtless mermaid versus
Listen up lovely little ones we're taking over this service

i didn't care about government schemes until i got evil spirit dreams
dub c society trying to find me and this is the help police provided me:
down on your knees, give us id, your job is bleed and plead mercy
with cattle prods it's easy to see who is the man and who is the beast

we are all animals/ people are animals
children it has always been this /way
we are all animals / let's act like animals
when the people come / to take our homes / away

You only are what you eat if you don’t have a superego
lots of people eat like sea gulls but only heathens eat other people
in the bible they eat sheep though even though it’s really illegal
speak no evil, hear no evil go once a week to a steeple

heretic, heretic, he is a heretic, we can't be heretics we are just farmers
we want a government who won't disarm us, jesus is lord stop with your dharmas
but only one seed will grow where your barn is
Jesus believes he told Charles Darwin
monkeys can't write in cuneiform, money can't make the monkeys perform
for money to monkeys is magic to mormons and money is putting a hex on your corn
so if you grow corn or if you eat corn or if you were born this market is cornered
you better wake up and conform every morning
or they'll put you in cages until you act normal

we are all animals/ people are animals
children it has always been this /way
we are all animals / let's act like animals
when the people come / to take our homes / away
one third of myself is 100 percent
of the part of myself I should spend on the rent
and I told you I dreamed that my money was spent
at first I was scared and acted all hesitant

then something deep in my being took precedence
answered the threats of every dead president
neighbors are blaming the presence of immigrants
everyone's immigrants, who isn't an immigrant

Oh good it's him again, die for my sins again
i'll be huck finn again you can be Jim again
curse about Mexicans praise Jackie Robinson
free him he's innocent, make him a citizen!

End all this venom the ending is imminent
isn't it officer I'm a civilian how many guillotines
will we be building for capitol hillbillies
murdering child - er - en?

You took my love and made a commodity
Everyone's holy my holy commodity
Don’t it feel odd to be sold as an oddity
Do i feel holy? oh lordy I go to be

ashes and ashes and dust to dust
you better just kill us forget about cuffs
Salvation's not something that animals trust
we'll drink your blood and that is enough!

we are all animals/ people are animals
children it has always been this /way
we are all animals / let's act like animals
when the people come / to take our homes / away
